If you’re new to working with a designer or creative you may be wondering why Graphic Design prices are so expensive. You're not the only one. This is because there are a frustrating number of misconceptions about designers, including their skill-set, what they actually do, and what they need to do their job.
We’re here to dispel some of those misconceptions and clarify exactly why design costs what it costs.
Part four is the final installation, and is all about Business Sustainability.
Let’s keep this one really short and sweet. Designers generally aren’t super money hungry people. We’re generally more emotional, and we want to do good, stimulating work and keep our clients happy. We thrive on enthusiasm, excitement and reaching goals. However, first, we must survive. Because here’s the thing: design is our job.
Design pays our rent, puts food on our table and clothes on our back, and yes, our pricing will reflect that.
This affects you, the client, on two counts. Number one is simple. If we don’t charge enough to keep ourselves in business, we will not be around to do your work in a year’s time.
Number two is... well... also simple. The quality of our work will be exponentially better if we charge enough to actually put the time into it. A designer who’s working on 10 projects at one time in order to break even is simply not going to have the same attention to detail as a designer who’s working on 2.
Please, let us do good work! For you!
